In Touch with Something

Previously I have written about a dear friend of mine-Mohsen-in this blog. More than a year ago he moved from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur along with his family. Last week he was in Dubai for a few days and I got the chance to meet him for a couple of times. One of the occasions was a night at his friend's house, which I will refer to as Dr. Mohsen (yes, they both have the same names). It turned out to be a special night for me, and I am going to tell you why.

First of all, after so many years I got the chance to listen to the sound of Setar from close. As our dialogue around life and humanity was unfolding, in the background, Dr. Mohsen played some of my favorite Iranian musics, making me to breath more deeply and connect to some place deep in my soul. It's amazing what music can bring out of that deeper place inside you; memories, dreams, connection to your core being and other feelings that are indescribable. Aside from the music, what struck me the most was the quality of the relations within those people. Whenever Dr. Mohsen looked at his little daughter, who is called Baran, there was an extraordinary energy in his eyes and a beautiful smile on his face. Although I enjoyed watching Baran as she was running and playing, I couldn't stop paying attention to Dr. Mohsen's face while observing Baran.

Amazingly, that was not the only relation with that level of quality. The same energy could be observed when Afsane (Mohsen's wife) was sitting on the floor, playing with little Raha. Also, when Majeed (Dr. Mohsen's brother) put his arms around the shoulders of his 11 year old son, when Dr. Mohsen was talking to his nephew about paying attention to musical instruments to see which one resonates with his soul, and many other instances.

When there was a few seconds of silence, I closed my eyes, knowing that I am at the presence of something profoundly beautiful. Something which was holding the space, including all of us. Later on, that thing manifested itself through our words, when our dialogue ended with a shared understanding that there is always a hand (or a flow) around us, constantly moving us towards where we have to be. That beautiful night ended with a shared answer to the question 'What would we change in the past if we got the chance to?' And the answer was: nothing!

I believe we have all sensed that thing over and over in our lives. Some might call it love, some other god, or an invisible hand, energy, flow, source, being and ... But does it really matter what we call it? What happens when we label that thing? By using those labels, will we add value to the process of sensing or understanding it? Is there any way to communicate about that thing without using any specific labels?

It's great to have such people around and have a chance to talk to them.
About labeling that "thing" HMmmmmm..., I don't know. Maybe if we can still undrestand each other even when we have different names for it, it won't be a problem.
Aren't you looking at it too idealistic?
Or maybe I'm taking it too easy:P
I call it God anyway, the God which means Love to me.
And this labeling doesn't stop me to understand you when you talk about it calling it "flow".
By the way, I guess the "flow" didn't want me to have those books yet because I also tried to buy them, but for some reason I couldn't.
ha ha ha, I alrady hesitate calling it God when I talk to you.

I feel God against all odds in this world that try to make me doubt his/her/its presence!!! That is because, I believe in logic as I am made to demand it. Logically there should be a source, but even before logic comes along , in my heart the LOVE for my children, husband, family, friends and fellow human beings has registered God in my soul. And this is where again I feel common grands with my friend Kamyar.

As I talk to GOD I feel comfort, hope, strength, love and mostly closeness to the point that I can complain, nag, even criticise to bare and overcome the dark times and still feel CLOSENESS, FORGIVENESS,and LOVE.

With whom can I have such strong relationship other than the Source and how else can I survive the absolute loneliness, depression, need, guilt and other unbearables? to whom can I show gratitude when I am truly happy?

I often talk to God when I hear a wonderful piece of music from Mutzart to Mohsen Chavoshi....MUSIC is what sets my prayer time!!! and Finally I agree with Sahar in wishing all of us understand each other even though we have different names for the source or even have shortcuts to get to him/her/it !!!!!
